Lingering in the Mist<\/p>

\u2018\u2019There was a time when the world was covered in mist<\/em>
Our memories of the past were fading like this\u00a0<\/em><\/p>


<\/i>The blood branch of our trees tore up in the dark<\/em>
The brokenness of the voiceless echoed in the dust<\/em><\/p>


<\/i>Surrounded by the blurry walls of the mist <\/em>
I thought to myself, how will these people feast?<\/em><\/p>


<\/i>Are they unchained by leaving the maze? <\/em>
The remaining ones wondering the gaze!<\/em><\/p>


<\/i>Digging the earth, the wisdom of the flames <\/em>
The old land\u2019s destiny will be glazed<\/em><\/p>

\u201cWordless\u201d <\/span><\/i>is inspired by the archeological artifacts called \u201ceye idols\u201d found in the vast area of West Asia. It seeks to create a parallel narrative between the decontextualized dissemination of the eye figurines in different museums and the histories of displaced people in the so called “Middle East”. This installation represents the critical condition of separating people from their homelands.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Focusing on the bewildered eyes and indescribable feelings of voiceless figurines, the apocalyptic landscape of the installation aims to evoke a sense of displacement and estrangement suspended in time and space. \u201cWordless provokes criticism of overlooked historical and geopolitical reasons behind continuously normalized war consequences. The <\/span>\u201cWorldless\u201d <\/span><\/i>project is supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and Alliance program.\u00a0\u00a0

\u00ab Wordless<\/em> \u00bb s\u2019inspire des artefacts arch\u00e9ologiques appel\u00e9s \u00ab idoles aux yeux \u00bb d\u00e9couverts dans la vaste r\u00e9gion de l\u2019Asie de l\u2019Ouest. Ce projet vise \u00e0 \u00e9tablir un r\u00e9cit parall\u00e8le entre la diss\u00e9mination d\u00e9contextualis\u00e9e de ces figurines dans diff\u00e9rents mus\u00e9es et les histoires de personnes d\u00e9plac\u00e9es au sein de ce que l\u2019on appelle le \u00ab Moyen-Orient \u00bb. Cette installation refl\u00e8te la condition critique de la s\u00e9paration des peuples de leurs terres natales.<\/p>

En mettant l\u2019accent sur les regards \u00e9gar\u00e9s et les \u00e9motions indescriptibles des figurines sans voix, le paysage apocalyptique de l\u2019installation cherche \u00e0 \u00e9voquer un sentiment de d\u00e9placement et d\u2019\u00e9tranget\u00e9, suspendu dans le temps et l\u2019espace. Wordless<\/em> suscite une r\u00e9flexion critique sur les raisons historiques et g\u00e9opolitiques souvent ignor\u00e9es qui sous-tendent les cons\u00e9quences des guerres continuellement normalis\u00e9es. Ce projet est soutenu par le Conseil des arts du Canada et le programme Alliance.<\/p>
